Had a hit. What should i do now?

Was in halfords carpark. i was waiting in the car while my m8 went in and picked up his new headunit. a corsa pulled up next to me and as the passenger opened his door he hit my car. All i saw was a scuff that looked like it could be polished out. got the guys tel no and reg anyway.

drove straight to impact in luton. they polished the scuff out and said that it has left a dent, they told me that i should claim and i should get the car sorted.

i rang the guy to get his details (6:30pm) - he told me he'd ring me with his details when he got home- 10:30pm and still no call

exactly what details of his do i need? and what info should i give him?
i have his registration number. what do i tell my insurers?

Did you get an estimate ?
Was he friendly enough about it ?

Might be worth telling the guy that it'll cost £x to get fixed, does he want to pay for it or go through insurance to save his no claims.

Otherwise get his insurance company details, car reggy etc, and do it properly.

Just pass it to your insurance company. As long as you have the reg number they'll sort it.

 £250 for a door ding, sounds like an expensive quote?? you might have more luck getting the money from him if it was a bit cheaper.

If the paint isn't fecked then dent master or the like charge about £90 a panel

Why can't people be more careful in car parks

Because a lot of people just don't care. They don't care about their car, so are ignorant to people who do.

My mate saw two women hit his 206GTi with a shopping trolley. The told him to his face that they didnt even though he saw them! When they went into the store he gave their car door a hefty kick. Well, his car was only hours old!
