    "Insp" and revs bouncing...

Right, 2 things today from my normally healthy car.

    1. It's syaing "Insp" on startup where the mileage is displayed. I checked my service book and it's approx. 10,000 miles since the last service so i'm hoping it's just the car telling me it needs one.

Hoping to get it in for a service withing the next 2 weeks anyhow.

    2. Say I accelerate from a set of lights and then there's another set of lights quite close. I've found all of a sudden today that if I get quite high in the range in 1st gear before the second set of lights, then dip the clutch as usual and followed by the brakes... the rev counter needle bounces a few times between 1,300 and as low as 500 revs before it settles!

The car feels like it might stall but it hasn't so far.

This also happened today when i'd managed to get into second gear but had to stop for another set of lights.

Anyone any ideas if it just needs a service or is it a more underlying fault?

Yes the INSP just means the car needs a service, you can get it to stop displaying it by turning the ignition on and holding in the little button next to the display until it starts flashing and then goes away.

Sounds like it actually needs a service.

How many miles has it done, sounds like it is breathing abit, and throwing muck into the icv when you thrash it.. try cleaning out your breather pipes and the icv.
