    radiator

    just got back to find radiator is leaking looks like it coming from passenger side behind the intercooler looks like the plastic side thingy.so is the rad covered under the 3 yr warranty or are they going to fob me off with some story

    been on phone to vauxhall rads covered under warranty but not mine.cos my service books not up to date.so anyone know price on a rad

    Rads on the astra G seem to be made of choclate!! Look at any small front ended astra and it will have a broken rad, this is because the plastic tubes on the side are very week and the brackets attach to them....so any impact however small will put force on the bracket and break open the plastic chamber. I personally think this is a very bad design!

    As you have guessed I broke mine also, so the good news is if you hunt around you should get one for about £60-£80 new....but you should have no problem getting one second hand from a vauxhall breakers these days. And you can fit it yourself....I am crap with anything engine! But I managed to fit it with the help of a mate that is the same as me

    SO still a pain in the arse but not that hard to sort out.

    been down to my vx dealer this mornining nearly dragged the bloke over the counter because the first service wasn,t done till 11500 miles before i got so the second one to me should be 21500 or 12 months well the cars done 20550 but itwas last serviced march last year so they are trying to get vx to pay so i,m waiting for a phone call.got some prices vx rad £150+vat or £85+vat from a rad company but they looked under the bonnet and siad woooo we can,t fit that so its 3£70 for another company to fit it.so i,m hoping vx ring me back soon.

    Thats aq bit harsh on vauxhall's side aint it?? Just cos the cars a few miles out on its service it wont make the rad fail...... Grrrrrrrr they get me so angry! They all talk so much sheeeite

    vx phoned me back they will pay £200 towards it .but the guy at my dealers say it will cost twice that because they got to remove air con to get rad off then they need to recharge air con and labour is £60 an hour but a local garage as checked in all there booksand you don,t touch the air con.as any one else had one fitted or fitted one.matg as your car got air con.or better still can some enquire at there dealers for me cheers guys oh and ladies

    yes I have got air con and you really dont need to take it off.....


    I did this in about 30mins with my mate!! It may be a little tighter space wise on the turbo but it really isnt hard to do!
