    Engine Tuning

Does anyone have any idea approximately what the cost would be and what's involved in getting engine's tuned and timing perfected?

there are a billion answers to that question! are you talking about your engine the 1.6 8valve?

a ruff guide for your engine:

    Cam 100
vernier pulley 80 (for getting timing perfect)
headwork 250-300(gas flowed ported and skimmed)
    Flywheel lightned 50-80
    fuel pressure regulator 80
injector cleaning 80 (may aswell regain lost power too)
    4 branch exhaust manifold 100
probably best to get new plugs/ leads/dizzy cap /fuel filter.

and the best way to gain performance would be throttle bodies. but you would be looking at 1500-2000 as setting up takes allot of time and money.

Your best bet would be to pop a 2ltr 16v engine in it and be done.

Nah man, only to run nicely, I don't want to beef my engine up.

I just mean to get the timing sorted out coz it just doesn't seem to idle very comfortably, I mean it's not horrendous, but it's just not smooth either.

And I quite regularly get that thing where you floor it and it dies first but then pulls away..

Not my box is de-restricted, but it did it anyway before I did that. :|

Anyway, I don't think there's much you can do to them coz the ECU makes all the adjustments on them anyway, so I reckon it's time to get ol Vista plugged in and see if she's ok...

This calls for a new thread!

The key to this is good/regular maintenance of the engine

As above, get the injectors cleaned, new fuel filter new plugs leads and dizzy cap, clean all the breathers and throttle body out out

If you want your timing set to perfection, get a vernier cam pulley and take it to a decent rr to be set up.
