    coupe falling apart with bass

just hooked up two 15" lanzar vibe subs in the boot, with my amp kicking out 1200wrms
but the coupe cant handle it, the rear shelf shakes, even on low volume, the boot rattles, so the bass from outside sounds really shite!
also the head unit skips when i put it up....

any solutions to the shelf problem?as im driving around with the rear seats down to release some pressure

has anyone with a coupe got subs in their boot?what problems/cures have you got?

    cheers

where abouts you going to put it?
im thinking of removing the rear shelf to see if it help, then if it is this, i'l add some foam under it to dampen the rattle, let us know how you get on

went to SECURE ICE in luton today to get a single box for my 2 15's, he told me its virtually imposible to get rid of rattles in a coupe style car, the best way is to get rid of the back seats and bring the subs forward, but i need my seats so his advice was just to remove all the carpets and plastic in the boot, and source anything vibrating against each other(like the shelf does) and just apply foam, or expanding foam, he told me not to really use dynamat or anything, as its not worth it unless i do the whole rear (£££ )

i'l let you know how i get on in the weekend as im doing most of the wiring etc on suNDAY

removed mine last week, and it makes a big diference
virtualy no rattles at all!, im re-triming the metal shelf in leatherette and getting rid of the original shelf
once the shelfs gone you can see where the noise came from, the metal behind the seats flexes up about 10mm when i have the bass up

this why im going to keep a line of vents, so some pressure can be released

the shelf is easy to get rid of, you need to prise off the black clips, then pull the shelf with force, and it helps getting someone to push in the metal clips from inside the boot

    enjoy the extra bass
