    exhaust issues

My centre box on my exhaust has gained a huge rust hole and there is no way of fixing it. I would buy a new one but also have no money. If i changed it for a straight through pipe would this cause any problems to the engine? As i keep on being told different things by different people. My car is a 1.6 8v Astra G. Thanks for any help given

You might loose some back pressure an you'll gain noise as there is one less sound reduction unit on the system but I can't see any major worries with a straight through Zorst until MOT time.

Like I said, Back pressure might be effected and so could your emissions

Why do Vauxhall and Ford make such shitty zorsts? They always drop off with rust after 3 or 4 years.

My motor had a new back box on it when I got it - it'd only turned 3 years old. The centre section is rotting, and has been welded and patched twice by my mechanic. The hanger has fallen off again, so it'll probably be blowout central any time soon.
