    Strange noise

When i was driving home last night my car was making a whining noise. I was driving back from Portsmouth cuz i'd just been to see Nick (Skuzzle). I was on the phone to him while i was driving and told him that my car was making a whining noise and he said does it stop when you brake, so i did and it did stop. He said it's probably the brake pads wearing out.

    What do you lot think?

    Ta!

May be pads worn, or you may have picked something up of the road like a piece of grit which has possibly lodged itself into your brake caliper.

    Hello,

Do they still carry out free brake tests in ATS?

never thought of that 1 - i just know that the standard vaux pads made a high pitched whine on my motor when they were low and vaux said it was a warning signal. They make the pads have a different material when they are low which makes the sound so you knw they need replacing.

But could also be wheel bearing.

Best to check the lot - start with tyre pressures then take it to a place that does free brake tests then bearing.

Grit in the between the disc would usually squeal more when you hit the brakes rather than go away then come back a while after but could also be a possibilty.

So yeah all good valueble comments.

Just start with the cheap checks cause it probably aint much.

Pop down to your local Vauxhall masterfit, they offer a free brake check.
