    Hello,

Do the following, switch on the engine from cold (do that first thing in the morning), rev it up a bit in the range of 1500-2500 for abot 10-20 secs or so and then turn off the engine.
Go and check the exhaust, if you see smoke comming up your engine may be burning oil. That may be nothing to worry about as when the engine is cold it will burn a bit of oil.
Now, if you do the check after a longish trip, say 40 miles, and you see smoke then I would be worried.

    Ciao,

white smoke = water "check the water level for loss"
blue smoke = oil "monitor your oil level"
black smoke = fuel air adjustment "get mixture reset or service due"
other thing is oil leak from the rocker cover if its running down the down pipe it could be dragged into the exaust or be burning on it

if it smokes on idle and not when driving i would say its the valve stem oil seals, as it will probably smoke on deceleration to (over run) if it smokes all the time i would say its the rings are worn.
