    Insurance declarations

I'm using Elephant.co.uk insurance and I've declared all the mods on my car (optional extras + Irmscher body kit). However, on my policy documents it does not contain specific details. E.g. my Xenon lights are listed as exterior decorative changes but there is no detail as to what this covers. I'm sure they have the details on their system.

My question is, should the policy document have the exact details of what is on the car? Or are policy documents supposed to be a bit vague knowing that the full details are on their system (the latter method seems like they could screw you over if you do not have the details your self.). Thanks

I'd still insist on written proof of what's covered.
It's not too much to ask.

Even if every call is recorded, can you remember what day and time you called them and told them :?

i know what you mean m8 from a customer's point of view but from the insurance point of view if you start getting funny and demanding things they will just say we dont have to insure your car with the modds we are doing it as a courtesy, and they can just canx with regards to sending a letter out.

Yeah, but after phoning for a quote you get the quote through listing whats to be covered for you to check and sign.
If it's not right, they'll have to change it.

Any company not doing that is not worth being insured with. IMO

I don't think its too much to ask !

I used to be with Halifax and they specifically listed ALL modifications on the policy schedule but never anywhere else.

With Egg now and they don't but i've been assured that all will be OK. Got me worried now :|

Oh, we are very grateful to them then.

So they'll say they'll cover anything you tell them to,
Without it being written down and agreed between insurer and customer !

. . . until time to claim on said items !

I know it's not your fault Brett, your just telling us how it is !
