Help Fitting Infinity 6.5" speakers in Astra Mk4 5dr Ha

Wanting to upgrade the crappy standard front speakers, I bought some Infinity 652.5i 6.5" speakers as I thought 6.5" would fit, having read the other posts on this site

However the standard speakers are 5.25" and the Infinity 6.5" wont fit using a Maystar adapter ring as the top of the speaker is hitting the door panel

Can anyone confirm the new speakers will definitely fit using an adapter?? or am I not trying hard enough?

Sorry about the rant but I am p'd off.

    They can be made fit.
Make up your own adaptor ring from MDF.

But the top of the speaker hits the door panel and prevents the door panel from shutting, even if I dont use an adapter at all and hold the speaker against the door.

Also are the standard speakers supposed to be 5.25 but the max that can fit is 6.5"?? Has anyone else had this problem??

No, they are definately 6.5" in the front and 5.25" in the rear.

6.5" speakers will definately fit as most/almost all who have upgraded there speakers are using this size. A few on here are even running Infinity speakers which are not overly deep. The VDO upgrade speakers that Vauxhall sell have approximately the same depth as the Infinity ones so should be no problem.

If you have a digi cam take a pic so we can see were it catches on the door panel and we can give advice accordingly.

It is the fins that surround the magnet that seem to be posing the problem!

also the door panel touches the rubber of the speaker

OK, if you are having problems with a large magnet you may need to modify the door opening slightly.
As for the door panel, try trimming back the rear of the panel.

    Just for your information.

The Rear speakers that are in a Mark 4 5 door are 13cm as standard. BUT... They dont have any screw holes on the speakers, they are moulded into the pods. So when you buy the pods from Autoleads, which are VECTRA REAR DOOR. you can only fit 10cm speakers because of the 4 screw holes have to screw into the new pods which reduces it in size.

There are ways you can mod this, but this is the standard way

I've had this exact same problem with my speakers. I've got a pair of 6.5" Infinity Reference 2-ways for my front door, but they simply will not go in. Without spacers they're too deep and hit the window track, and if I put a spacer on, they foul on the door panel and I can't even see where coz I've tried looking in but can't see anything hitting it, it just will not fit.

My mate's giving me a set of Kappa components out his old Cav and they're only 6", so I'm gonna see if they're any easier to fit.

My original system was the CCR600 with the 4disc glove box changer, if that helps!

Shall I just get the speakers installed professionally?
