My astra G sounds like a deisel

Please help my astra g sounds like a deisel but only when the engine has warmed up to normal operating temp. I've checked the oil even done a oil change with the engine flush thinking it may be cam or tappets. Or could it be water pump? I don't know. The cam belt and tensioners where replaced a year ago so there's my parts warrenty out the window. please help.

    thanks.

check oil is getting to cams, did you use synthetic oil and change the filter as well?? other things knock sensor if fitted - timming out even if a new one was fitted check the marks line up

the problem has bee resolved. Vauxhall put in a new water pump plus rollers, tensioners and timing belt in. As vaux said thats where the diesel noise was coming from the water pump. All is quiet for now! thanks carman for trying to help.
