lasting effects - none... although supposed it may lead to pad degredation over time depending on your pads

symptoms - reduced braking power and feel

what is it - when your brakes exceed the working temp of the pads and braking performance waynes off

Extreme brake fade (experience by self)

What it is - brakes work by transfering kinetic energy into heat energy. Repeated heavy braking generates more heat in the disc/pads that can be disipated in between brake applications. Brakes exceed maximum working temperature and rapidly lose efficiency

Symptoms - brakes become less efficient, more pedal pressure is needed to stop (along with 'fast prayer in' severe circumstances), acrid smell percolating into cabin, car won't stop as it should. Soiled pants (experienced by passanger).

Lasting effects - disintegration of brake pad surface and severely glazed discs. Remedy - new pads and attack disc (both sides) with emery cloth to remove glaze.

After 2 sets of 4 fast laps of donnington park last summer (approx half hour break between sets), I could just feel mine begining to fade.

I doubt if I'd have got another lap in without fade becominig dangerous. And that's with a standard 2.2 coincidentally.

On a road you'd have to go like a nutter to replicate those conditions, unless you blast down a very long twisty steep hill
