Help! My car really struggles to fire up.

I'm having real trouble starting my Astra (hot or cold) it's as if the battery is low (but I know its not, its been charged) I have just noticed that (what I believe is the imobilser light) flashes when I have the ignition on. Is this normal? :?:

If I start the car when the head lights are on, all the lights dim as if the battery was low.

Its the first Vauxhall I have ever owned and I'm not familiar with any of it.

    Any ideas?

It could be a one of many problems mate from the Altenator to a bad earth. Start with the small things first like carrying out an altenator test to see if it's putting out the correct voltage and then move up to the battery to see if it's holding it's charge.

These problems are always the most annoying one's and 99% of them turn out to be something really simple. I'm not sure about the red light being on but I don't know what model you own. My Mk4/G Flicks on whilst the imobiliser circuit disengages but that's it.

Thanks, as long as it's nothing to major then.

    I'll do some tests.

    I'll let you know.

    Thanks
