    Windows XP Problems

    Hello

    I hope you don`t mind me posting a non astra related topic but this is driving me crazy.

    I upgraded from windows ME to Windows XP on the desktop pc 2 weeks ago and have the following problem.

    After a clean install of XP the pc gets to the xp loading screen and when the green bar gets to the right hand side of is `box' the pc reboots. I went into safe mode and after some investigation, found an option to not let the pc reboot if it encounters a fault. Now, when the green bar gets to the right hand side the screen goes blue with the following error message;

    STOP: C0000221 Unknown Hard Error
    \SystemRoot\System32\ntdll.dll

    After more investigations I replaced the motherboard and cpu last weekend and everything seem to be ok. However, on Tuesday this week the pc started doing the same thing again. My hard disk is only 2 weeks old and ran Windows ME fine so don`t think it`s that, my DDR memory and graphics card have been tested ok and also bought a more upto date internal modem.

    This is driving me mad as I`ve replaced almost all my hardware now, oh and I tried another clean install using a known good copy of XP, but this still didn`t work.

    I would be more than greatful if someone can help me reslove this problem or at least confirm what the above error code refers to.

    Helllllllllllllllp!!!!!!

    Reward to the person who solves this bloody anoying problem.

    My 2 cents worth is you should use "checkdisk" on your hard drive and see whether any errors appear.
