Is it really wise to buy a MK4 now?

I have been looking around at MK4's and have came to the conclusion that a MK4 1.8 SXi/Sport in Silver/Black or dark blue is the way to go.

But is it really wise to get one when the MK5 is coming out in a few months? what with depreciation and everything.

Also I have found a 3 door 1.8 Sxi with Aircon 2001 X reg in black, 1 owner about 33k miles for around the £5250 mark.

    That sound good?

If you want a cheap very clean/good SXi 1.8 on an X plate with 25k pm Timmah on the site, he is selling his. It currently has a nice set of 18s on it too!

Hi mate, already spoken to him, but think its a bit much considering crash damage in current market.

Vauxhalls will allways deprciate quickly anyhow.

But with the event of the AstraH being launched should see alot of hi spec bargain G's. Id say its the best time to get one, lots of bonus goodies.

Some of the best Astra F's for value for money are the last of the line LS's which come with everything thrown at em.

The brand new 1.8 sxi has a few extra goodies from memory, such as extra irmy stuff, erm colour coded handles...... erm i think leccy mirrors and more.

just that £5250 ish for a 3 old 1.8 sxi seems damn good, but if its going to lose like 1k in the next year, then not so

Also another point the MK5 3 dr isnt out until Spring 2005

Depends on the model really. If you're considering used, What Car? Magazine reckon that the value of the 1.8s, 2.0s, coupes and cabrios won't be hurt so badly by the launch of the mk5 but the 1.6 models will drop quite badly as there's so many about

I remember a 1.4 LS Astra F my Dad had. That was one of the last of the line, but had electric everything, aircon, alloys, cd player.
