    What engine have I actually got? (Astra Convertable)

    This is going to sound silly but ... (plz don't flame me)

    I have a 2003 Astra Convertable. What I want to know is; is there any visible difference in the engine of the 1.6 and the 1.8?

    What (other than the paper work) would be the easiest way to find out whats actually under the hood? I'm not really into the technical stuff, can anyone help? I looked around the engine and cant see anything that would tell me, any of you guys know?

    look in the gallery for engine bay number 39, thats an 1.8 16v and engine bay 47 is a 1.6 16v hope that helps

    Look for a white sticker on the side of the cam cover like this one in the link below:

    Note the begining part X18XE1... this is your engine type!

    They are both pretty much the same engine. The later 1.8 16v engines were based on the 1600 engine and as fitted to all MK4 Astra's facelift 99> Vectras and Zafira's etc.

    The early Vectra's and MK3 Astra 1.8 16v's were based on and look identical to the 2.0 16v Ecotec.
