    Upgrading coupe lights to HID?

Picking up my coupe soon, and i want to upgrade the lights to the HID system.

Has anyone tried this? Is it a straight swap that i could do myself, or is there alot more to it wiring etc?

    cheers

I'm probably looking at around £400 after i've sold the original headlights, but have wanted them for a while now.

Really? I thought the setup was slightly different? Oh well lol

The Vauxhall price is £600 but i'm sure i can get it down a bit. Gonna keep an eye on the scrapyards aswell, its a fairly rare kit, but i', hoping!

i think youll find its much more than that from vauxhall

you have the price of the lights
    front engine wiring loom
    instrument wiring loom
    different headlamp switch
and possibly a few other consuables bulbs etc

i would go the scrap yard if i was you, as at least youll have a hole car to rob the bits off

Woh! I'm just going from the options list on the Vaux website. I'll give them a call tomorrow, and find out their all inclusive price.

Might have to re-think the upgrade if its significantly more expensive.

    cheers

Xenon bulbs are £90 on thier own from VAG.

I fitted a HID kit to a Golf the other day, was quite easy to do. I think the kit cost about £500. Uses your original lights and has a Xenon bulb with an adaptor that goes in place of your original bulb. You then wire up the igniter unit from a live and earth from each lamp and job done.

Look good, really bright and the 'blue' haze.
