    Performance of the car varies

Ive got a 1.8 SRi 51 Plate car.....

Im finding that some days the car seems to pull though all the gears and really shock me . Then other days the car seems sluggish.......

If I have the Air Con on for say 30 mins then switch of the car seems nippy again. I know that Air con takes roughly 10bhp from the car.... But it seems sluggish even with the Air con Off too....

Any Ideas what this could be.... Its under Net Q warranty

I think I get that as well sometimes, when it feels slower it seems to make a feint whining noise, bit like alternator whine on a stereo with interference.
Doesn't seem to be temperature, fuel related, and I haven't used the AC for a while now.

Do me a favour, Use the aircon tommorow for roughly 30 mins. Then turn it off and see how your car responds.

If it like mine then it will feel quick...... Might go and see what vaux think of it

I think you will find that if you drive it hard, it will soon come to its senses and expect it a lot, drive like an old man sunday driver, and then drive hard its gonna be in sunday driver mode for a little while, until it learns other wise, these engines like to revved, most of the power is at the end of the rev band, it also keeps things clean inside burnnin off all that old man sunday driver coking.

My aircon chills the car in summer, which i think is pretty cool, as most complain that they are not good enuff for the hot weather, i do notice tho take off times from standstill are slighlty less.

I'll try my air con on the way round to my mums tomorrow then blast it, which is always fun when bird is in the car cos she hangs onto the door and leans back

On a similar note to you uk eng, I've tried driving a little harder from cold sometimes to see if its some sort of self learning thing with the ECU. Problem is I don't like taking it much past 4000rpm when cold.

Thing is with these sort of things is the dealer will make you feel ops:

almost b4 every journey where poss, i start car up, and let it tick over for appx 30secs-1min 30secs sometimes slighlty more.

by then its tick over is down, and shes ready to drive, i dont thrash it at this point, but will open her up too appx 5k, and change thru gears, after about 5 mins of normal driving, and i want too, she will get wipped into action, 6k+, i never noticed the rpm exaclty, but theres a sweet spot to change.

these are new engines, and if good oil is in there semi or fully synthetic there is no problem with lettin em loose at an early stage.

They are more powerful when cold too, have you noticed lol.

i would say its more of a high revving engine sound, not noisy..

i used to have a mini revving at 8k+, just sounds more like a zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sound.

just make sure you use good oil.

Well tried the air con on, off thing today, but TBH didn't really notice the difference, not even noticable power sap when running. I managed to give the car an unexpectedly long run as well. Went down to Brighton to collect some wheels

I have noticed the whining more with BP ultimate
