    which sub?

when I eventually get round to doing my boot install I want to run a 12" alpine type r sub off an alpine MRDM300. Which sub do I need, a 2 ohm one or 4 ohm?
    cheers

Just digging around for details, the spec of the amp is as follows:
    300W x 1 RMS [2Ohm @14.4V]
    150W x 1 RMS [4Ohm @14.4V]

I don't know much about the type R sub, I think it's dual voice coil but if possible, you should try to configure it for 2Ohm so you get the full 300W.

someone else may be able to elaborate on this better than I can

If you can get the Alpine sub in a 'Dual 4ohm' Voice Coil Config. you can wire it to show the amp a 2ohm load.

That way you get the full 300w to the sub

Connect the Voice Coils to the amp in Paralell

    Top diagram (follow linky)

This will give you a final load of 2ohms
