private plate and change of car?

i know this was kinda covered elsewhere but i thought id start my own thread.

Ive got S7ENJ on my mk4 at present

Im selling the mk4 and getting a J reg car in the meantime (till i find the right car)

Now i obviously cant use my private plate - so what happens to it?

Will i have to pay more to keep it on retention rather than swapping it straight over? Would i be better to put it on my dads car just now and then on my next car?

    any help appreciated.

It is over £100 to put it on retention (plus anual fees after that) so it might be cheaper to assign it to another car for now. Depends how long you are looking at :?

if your gona keep your new car for more than a year then put it on your dads car as you have to renew the retention every year

if less than a year the put it on retention so it is ready for the next car after this one

80 pounds to transfer, 105 to retain.

So if you are transferring it to your dad's and THEN to your new car, its cheaper to put it on retention £105 v £160
why do today what you can...... I'll finish this later
