    routine engine care?

hey guys... i was just thinking about it, and wondered wether there is anything i should be doing periodically to keep my engine running at it's best? (1.8 16v btw)

i already try to change the oil every 6-8000 miles, but is there anything else i should be doing? what about these fuel supplements that are supposed to clear your injectors and so on?

oh, she's only done about 16,000 so far but best to start these things earlier rather than later eh?

    cheers

Periodically.. not really.. just probably what you might do is to in the mornings before you start the engine is to leave it on for maybe 30sec-1min to let the oil circulate rather than turn the key and zoom away. Nearly all the wear on an engine happens in the initial periods of startup.

If you actually bother to read the manual (I was very bored once and attually bothered) it says somewhere not to idle the car, the car operates better when driven away after being started! Using better oil would overcome the problem of engine wear while starting up the car

IF you have a cable shift then grease the cables on top of the gearbox, helps to keep them nice and smooth.

Oil you are sorted with by the sounds of things

Other than that it is the obvious. Keep up the good work

what i always do when starting from cold is let the revs drop before i pull off (you know, wait for the automatic choke to drop) and then drive gently until the engine is at full temp....

so nothing that i'm not already doing huh?

    good to know!
