    Hazard lights

Parked my Coupe today, and came back to find the hazards blinking. Not the normal speed, but fast as if the alarm was going off. Pressing the remote cleared it.

    What would cause that?

Do you think it was the alarm going off?

Mine went off for no reason last week and when the horn stopped sounding the hazard lights were still flashing. Seen this happen of a convertable MK4 aswell.

If someone could shead some light on to how long they flash for and maybe a good reason why

The reason way they stop sounding after a while is because of the law,

Itís illegal for any type of alarm to sound for longer than a few minutes, donít know the exact time.

This is called disturbing the peace.

Some alarms donít keep constantly keep flashing there hazards, they simple beep a few more times when you disable the alarm.

Thatís why they still flash after sounding,

Same with house alarms, thatís why they stop after a bit.

Why your alarms went off, could have been somebody with a big exhaust, or a bus, or a car horn, if there wasnít any damage, I wouldnít worry.

Yeah I know the alarms are only ment to go off for a certain amout of time (my user name might give it away) and they are only supposed to go off so many times on the same circuit.

What i'd like to know if anyone knows how long do the hazard lights flash for? I can't believe they would flash until you came back to your car.

Ok answered my own questinns by reading the owners manual...... It will sound for 30 seconds as I expected then flash the hazards for 5 minutes
