    Help with new computer..

Right my computer is dying fast....so I need a new one. This is the one I am looking at from Eversham Micros. Before everyone gets on the you can build your own blah blah, I have no intention on doing that or the time or abilty.

    The spec:

    AMD Athlon XP 2800+ Processor
    Microsoft Windows XP Home
    120GB 7200rpm UDMA100 Hard drive with 8Mb buffer
    1GB DDR (2700)
    19'' Viewsonic VP191B TFT (Black)
Sony 52x24x52 CDRW Drive with Burn proof technology
Sony DW-U14A Multi format 4xR/+RW DVD writer
    Radeon 9600 256Mb VGA/DVI-I/TV-out
nVidia Soundstreem audio with DD 5.1 digital and six speaker connectivity
    Altec Lansing ready modem
    3.5'' 1.44Mb floppy drive
    Onboard 10/100 network port
    Microsoft cordless keyboar and mouse
    3 year warrenty (as above)
    Lifetime nat rate Technical support
    Microsoft works 7.0
Other software DVD, stuido etc etc

HP PSC 2410 Printer, scanner, copier, card reader and FAX

Total Price = £1874.77 inc VAT

The main attraction to eversham micros is they are 5 mins from my house and do 2 years on site warrenty and 1 year in store warrenty. However it seems like a lot of money for what I want. So has any one else got any advice, other places to try that offer the same sort of services, or even a different spec etc etc

ed to get this sorted asap so your input would be great.

    Cheers

    Mat

    Not a bad price IMO

Get 2 HDDS so if your OS one dies you can keep the data one seperate.

You have a CDRW and a DVDRW drive. The DVDRW should also write CD's. Should just need a DVD Rom drive and a DVDRW drive.

Why cordless keyboard and mouse ? Seems an expense thats not necessary.

    Other than that seems fine.

I dont mind spending the money if I know its a decent price...just dont want to be ripped off thats all.

I also want to keep it for about 5 years (I have had this one for 5 years) I know in that time the one above will be very dated but I dont want to be changing every 2-3 years. So I am hoping that spending a bit more will take through the 5 years. If that makes sence

does seem a bit pricey to me (im no expert) but most of the goodies are decent quality. i would defo recommend 2 HDDs (im on the reserve at the moment lol). if you get a chance, grab a pc mag, loads of bargains

jeesus thats a nice system - pricey thou.

i understand what ur saying bout building ur own and all that but you could build an equivalent system for half the cash but you probably already know this so we wont even go there. just wouldnt be me dats all

if ur planning on keeping it for that long i would maybe see bout a 3200 proc or better - shouldnt be too much more and wil future proof it for that wee bittie longer.

you could try DELL theyre not too bad on price and their systems work well

a note on the cordless mice/keyboard, if your going to use your pc a lot then be aware that a cordless mouse will eat the batteries

At the moment we are buying Dell PC's at work. Tech support is second to none, very good and well recommended. Mat u need a machine that going to be easy to upgrade if needed, so choose wisely. Spec's on Dells and prices are great at the moment. Give them a call on 0870 907 5818. Most computer companys try to sell u machine with a free camera, printer and all that crap, but the spec and expandability of the machine is toss.
