    Unsovable Riddle?

I've out this up on several forums. I can't come up with the answer, lets see if anyone on here can

Tom , Dick and Harry go out to a Restaurant and have a lovely meal.

At the end of the meal the bill comes to £30 and of course they split it and put £10 in each. The waiter takes the money to the kitchen where the Chef realises that they have been over charged and it should only be £25 so gives the waiter £5 change.

On his way back the waiter desides that these 3 men won't notice that they've only been charged £25 and so pockets £2 and gives each man £1 back.

Now with is change, each man has only paid £9. That means the meal comes to a total of £27.
And the Waiter has £2 in his pocket.
    This equals £29.

Where has the missing £1 gone??

    25 / 3 = 8.3333333333333333333333333333333

    = 1 = 9.3333333333333333333333333333333

So they should have paid £9.30 each

    Oh....... I dunno

Nah not that . BTW, I don;t know the answer to this either, but its doing my head in!

Remeber, each man origanlly gave £10 to get the total of £30 but got £1 back so effectively they paid £9 each.

    Here's my working out:

    9 x 3 = 27.

    The waiter stole £2

    so 27 + 2 = 29

So, where the B'jesus has the last £1 gone, unless of course 29 = 30?? :?

    The facts:

The men were initially charged £30. It should only have been £25, so £5 must be returned and accounted for.
£3 is given to the 3 friends, £2 is kept by the waiter - there you have the £5.

The trick to this riddle is that the addition and subtraction are done at the wrong times to misdirect your thinking - and quite successfully for most.

Each of the 3 friends did indeed pay £9, not £10, and as far as the friends are concerned, they paid £27 for the night.
But we know that the chef will tell us that they were charged only £25 and when you add the £3 returned with the £2 kept by the waiter, you come up with £30.

hold on and i will put this into ghetto style for ya all

if three mate go to score an gram of crack at £30 and all put in a £10 each

but when 50 pence goes to get it for them the pimp daddy selling it says he has a sale on and it is now only £25 a gram

so he gets a £5 back and on the way through the ghetto he bumps into mad dog woogie who sells him a wonder joint for £2, which he smokes on the way back

when he gets back he hands them a £1 each and keeps a £1 him self and tells them it was £27 a gram

so if each dude pays a £10er and gets a £1 back thats £27 plus the £2 wonder joint = £29

explain that before your homes kill your ass GEEEEEEEEEEEE

Yeah, (but slightly nick picking) the man actually only paid £8.333333p (25 divided by 3) and the waiter stole 0.66666p from each man. (0.6666 X 3 = £2)

So 25 + 2 = 27 and the last 3 pounds is what they got in change.

And both Clubgti and Astra-sport solved it in about the same time.

And I have now Emailed Terry and Gaby @Channel 5 to give them the answer.

Now the biggest riddle of all..............why the hell am I watching Terry and Gaby??
