    Do all Mk4's have this?

    Do you mean that it detects if someone is in the car and don't let you deadlock it?
    Kinda... It works (as i understand it) on the passenger door, if someone opens the passenger door, then closes it, but doesn't open and close it again, then it won't let you deadlock the car..... i think it's something like that..... likewise drivers door i think

    Hrmf, never found this myself.....have deadlocked people in my car a few times, amazing how they have no idea whats happened to them!

    used to be able to activate the dead locks in my old astra G but I carnt in this one

    Its meant to be part of the child safety range. The Haynes manual makes mention of it and the child seat Vauxhall sells.

    Apparently the child seat has an in built transponder that conncets to the VODS and disables the airbag.

    Really need to know if this will work on the Astra before I go and try and explain it to the Vauxhall dealer

    Ah, yes, that is true.......
    There are child seats you get with transponders to disable the air bag.... The Vaux dealer should know exactly what you mean... I think it's built into the child seat, and, you'd expect it to work!
