I am having some serious and potentially expensive problems with my stereo in my Astra, its a 01 Astra 4 Door CD Sedan and i have recently blown up 3 amplifiers due to an unknown problem.
This is what the system consists of:
Alpine 9815 Head Unit, Blaupunkt 4 channel amp running the Apline Spx - 177A Split and the headunit running the Stock Rears, but the problem lies (I think) with the Bass setup, which at the moment consists of a Lanzar VHC 2000 and two Lanzar Optidrive Sub's.
What has happened is me and a mate installed it ourselves, we are running 0 guage stinger cabling from the battery straight to a distribution block in the back which splits the 0 gauge to an 8 guage which runs to the splits amp and also 4 gauge which runs to the sub amp, we grounded the battery with 0 gauge and also grounded the bass amp with 4 gauge to a seatbelt bolt. What happens pretty much is i will be playing my music usually at a loud level and the amp will just die and go into protection mode, this happened originally with a VHC1200, so i sent it back for warranty and ended up swapping it for a VHC2000, then i put the 2000 in and it also did the same thing, then i sent it away for warranty and i am currently borrowing a VHC1200 again, and tonight it shit itself aswell , i was listening to a pretty bassy song and it just died, the guys at the store reckon i need a capacitor but the amp has been running alot harder for the last month or so without a problem then it was when it blew tonight, i am pretty unhappy as you can imagine because i got no idea what the go is my amps just keep dying when i give them some bass.
If anyone has any idea's it would be greatly appreciated as i have an astra and you guys seem like the experts, im in australia and there isnt a big astra scene here, im trying to get the astra into the "omg look at that car" zone , but yeah anyway any help appreciated,
