    Clutch Engine Vibration

    Hi

When I pull away - 1st gear - or on a hill start etc as the Clutch gets its biting point the engine is quite groany and rough feeling/sounding.

There is also vibration throught the clutch pedal.

    What is causing this.

    Its a MK4 1.8 SRi Astra.

    Thanks alot.

    John

when you pull away do you give her some revs whilst releaseing the clutch or just release the clutch and then acellerate? if the revs are on tick over when pulling away on a hill the engine will grown a little, im not saying rev up 3000 or anything just a little more than tick over.

ok, you get the odd noise sometimes but thats it, and sometimes i think its comming from the ps pump, i know its electric on the G but when turning the wheel i can sometimes make it out as a strange rumble, when i first got the car i though this was the clutch but my mate drove it and he seemed to think it was the p/s pump, theres nothing wrong with it and its not a regular thing.

but if i try pulling off just on tick over she can sometimes grown a little, like she's just about to stall which i would say is about right. all about clutch controll.

to tell if your clutch is slipping at all put her into 1st or 2nd, pull up the hand brake and then slowly release the clutch, the revs should fall and she should eventually stall depending how good your hand brake is, dont rev then engine and make sure no one or nothing is in front of you in case you shoot forward. if the revs dont fall much she's slipping.
