    Insurance - Bonus?

Whats the difference between a Guaranteed Bonus and a Protected Bonus please?

I currently have a Protected bonus and had never heard of a Guaranteed one until I was playing with elephant.co.uk.

Also, which companies are the best ones for mods please.

I believe Protected is when you can have say 2 accidents in 5 years without it reducing your no claims bonus. Guaranteed is when you can have as many accidents as you like (if you know what i mean!) without it affecting your no claims bonus. Not sure how it works as you still have to say you have had an accident and it was your fault, but it didn't affect your no claims. I also believe you can only have guaranteed bonus if you have 5 or more years no claims.

Ross is correct. Though protected normally allows you 2 fault claims in a 3 year period without your NCD being reduced. However its still a con, as your premium will still rise at renewal as you have had a fault claim. I know this to be true as I work for a major insurance company.

I'm on a Protected Bonus at the moment but was never given the option of a Guaranteed one and wondered why. Cheers.
