Astra Drink And Drive Advert ...

Anyone else see what that advert has anything to do with drinking and driving?

I can't. I only see an annoying cyclist where the driver has to take risks to get past.

If the words wern't there to indicate it was a drink and drive advert, I'd wonder what the hell that advert was about.

Damn annoying cyclists. Pain in the backside.

The cyclist was riding too far away from the kerb. She saw a car was behind her trying to get past. Stupid cow should have gone on the pavement.

Re: Astra Drink And Drive Advert ...

Although I agree its not the best of adverts, surely the point is to show that the guys concentration is lacking following a drink which is why he doesn't take the correct action.

She's a child, kids aren't always as aware of risks as adults might be.

    Just my thoughts.

The one that really used to affect me was the one of a grown guy having his xmas dinner whisked up in a blender for him to eat by his Mum. Horrible advert.

Cyclist have just as much right to use the road as cars. If they were on the pavement would the people using them be put at risk.

Personally I give cyclists as much room as possible and only overtake them when I can give them enough room, treat them as I wish to be treated when i'm cycling

calm down man, the little girl is only about 10!
i think it was the car, i think its green, on-comming to the astra as it didnt move or swerve or flash its lights or beep it just carrered straight into the astra! it could all hav been avoided if the green car was paying atention two, but then that would defeat the point of the advert.
but yeah, the girl should have moved
    silly moo!

I think the point of the ad is that the guy in the Astra was under the influence and was over compensating by concentrating on the cyclist as he went past. Because of that he went head on into another car.

As Autosparks has already said, cyclists have as much right to be on the road as everyone else and as a car driver, you should be giving them the full width of their side of the road when overtaking, so where they are in the lane is irrelevant.

If a car tries to pass me without moving over when I am on my bike I usually gob on the side windows to make my point

And as for cycling on the pavement??? Not very safe for the pedestrians then is it?

I can remember this advert last year, all the comments it got then was "where can I get the de-baged grill"..lol

With this one and the other advert of the mum driving like a loon getting her kids to school (handbrake turns the lot, outside the school I might add) in a Astra G its taking a bit of a hammering atm.

If its anything like the **** in the Jaguar that almost ran us off our Race bikes the other morning, then they need shooting !

I must admit that I take more care around cyclists than I do horses. Cant see why they have to be on the road personally ! - I mean how the feck did they get everywhere before roads ??? :? :?
