Avi to Mpeg converter (Cruise Video)

Does anyone know what is best to convert an Avi file to a smaller file ie mpeg as I am making a cruise video from our area. Any help would be great and I will also host the video for you to download. Thanks

AVI files are generally smaller than MPEG Mark. As for converting AVI to MPEG, it takes an age to decompress back to MPEG and sometimes the sound goes out of sync.

Lol, it probably is, what is a decent recording quality for me to do this video on. I am recording a video tape from my video onto my tv card in my pc, so it looks like I will have to change some settings somewhere on my tv recorder on my pc  .Thanks

I have found some settings as I only bought the tv card last night. What does "Format Size" mean? It's on 640x480 at the moment. And what does "Hue" mean as it's on 64. Thanks

You want a little utility called tmpgenc.

You should find everything you want on www.vcdhelper.com

Useful tool in converting films from Divx back to VCD's, SVCD's or even back to DVD's.

I now have the file as 90mbs but need to change it some how as it's only a windows audio/video file as my ftp does not recognise the file . The quality is good and I have added some audio playing in the background.
