    Started LGV training...........

well, after a year or so's thought ive decided to put myself through the above. Ive already had the theory test/medical and a two hour assesment lesson......I took the theory/perception test for the first time on saturday, and passed straight away. i scored 33/35 for the theory and 65/75 for the perception test.

Ive got my category c (ex hgv 2) training and test penciled in for the first week of january, and the category c + e (ex hgv 1) training penciled in for the first week of febuary..........i say penciled in, as this is if i pass both, first time. My course is a guaranteed pass course, allowing upto six fails.

I will post regular updates as to how my training is progressing in this thread, and do welcome any tips and sugestions you lot may have as i progress from being a normal car licence holder, to being licenced to drive the biggest trucks on the road

Largest vehicle I have driven, is a Volvo FL7, 7.5 tonne, with air brakes etc, plus it was fully laden. I took that out down the motorway for a couple of junctions and back up the motorway again. Then I had to reverse park it again in between 2 other trucks!! You just have to watch out for car drivers trying to squeeze past on roundabouts etc.

I have also driven a recovery truck, which I borrowed to drive to Crawley and pick a VW which was not drivable and we was only going to break it for bits anyway.

Good luck on your progress mate
How much is this costing you if you dont mind me asking? as I've really been thinking about going for the HGV licenses.

I've driven all different variants of the 7.5 tonners. You should try squeezing 8 7.5 ton motors and 10 merc vans, long and short wheel based versions into a warehouse at the end of a working day I used to love doing it, cos it took me 15 minutes to get them all in on my own but it take the guys on the night shift over and hour to get them all back out again

Hope it all goes well too.

I spent two years in the Fire Service. Try driving a truck with a bleeding great lader on the top and 300 gallons of water on the back..lol.

well dudes and girls, ive failed 2 tests upto now...
1st was for 3 minors for going to slow
2nd was a feckin traffic light in preston

3rd is coming up this monday oo er misses

Yeah, so I feel ive been unfairly treated over the past two tests.

One thing is ive become so aware, of how unaware other people are to HGV's

Really do hope I pass this, or as far as im concerned its two grand down the swannie .

I still have my two previous test sheets, I will post all three up after monday
