    what's the difference?.....

    ....between:

    C18XEL
    C18XE
    X18XE

    Why are there different codes?

    IIRC the prefix letter is the emission compliance standard, and the suffix is the engine management programme.

    Otherwise the engine is the same.

    But then again someone may prove this to be codswallop ops:

    I think the C18XEL was based on the X20XEV, like the one NRJ has.

    but i have the 125 bhp engine and yet in my service manula ect it says my engine code is X18 XE

    shouldnt it be X18 XEL?

    Anyway to get back on to the point, the reason I ask is because I want to get this for my car:

    The vauxhall spark plug cover for Vauxhall 2.0 16v XE.

    Now my engine is a 1.8 16v and I think a C18XEL (same as NRJ's). Will it fit cos it does look like it will.

    pretty sure it would mate, but nrj will know better

    the size of the cylinders is what wuld be different i think

    It will NOT fit an ecotec engine. The C18XEL is an ecotec engine, the ecotec engine has a straight line plug cover.

    Reverie do an ecotec cover for £100, although they seem to have removed it off the site atm, but was there. Although far to much for a cover

    isnt yours the same engine set up as in the 2L 16v gsi ?
