I remember reading the Astra GSi review on evo.co.uk and they said the gear change was bad ... and they were right. I really expected much smoother from a brand new car. Like you, getting into second can be a real challenge, it is noticeably worse from cold and does improve when things warm up. Who konws whether this is 'normal' or not?!

Mine went like that on and off in the weeks preceding the clutch failure. Could also be the clutch master cylinder on its way out.

Report your thoughts to the Vauxhall dealer, get them to test drive the car and make sure it is written down somewhere that you have brought the car in.

The warranty on clutches is well naughty, as they class it as a wear part as soon as 12 months roll by, even though they should last at least 60,000 miles on a standard car
