Anyone else got a crappy handbrake?

My handbrake has been shite from the start, if i dont pull it up to the max amount of clicks, you can hear it wanting to go somewhere, and when im on a hill, i have to leave it in gear, just incase i wake up one morning with it halfway down the road embedded in a tree!! My mates new van has a shite one as well witht he same problem, just wondering if this was a common problem?

If you don't know what your doing TAKE IT TO SOMEONE WHO DOES.

Brakes are too important to mess about with.

well at this time of year, i dont want to be spending out for a garage to fix the problem, and so far, nobody from here has suggested that they can do it. Yes and brakes may bne important, but it is just the handbrake!

If you don't want to pay now, use a couple of bricks as wedges...

I worked at NetworkQ for a week when I was about 14 and on work experience.

I tightened a few handbrakes... there's a screw under the gaiter and it needs adjusting until the handbrake clicks up 3 notches.

Mine's terrible too on my car. So much so that it didn't hold at all on a hill when I went to Cornwall... and the car rolled back through a fence and nearly over a cliff as a result!... with me and my gf in it!
