Problem with deadlocks on Mk 4 Astra G

    Hi all,

Does anyone know of any problems activating the deadlocks on mk4 Astra G 1.8 16v Sport.

I press lock button on remote, which locks the doors, then press it again to activate the daedlocks.........but this quite often doesn't work.

I sometimes have to go back to the car, start the engine, then shut it off again & try again. This normally works, but then it will keep happening every other day.

I have even tried the spare remote, thinking it might be a remote problem, but no.

My car is still under warranty so if need be i should be able to get it sorted by the dealer, but it means a 70 mile round trip.

I have a few mates who work for local Vauxhall dealers so will ask them 2, but thought i would see if any of u guys & gals have had anything like this happen 2 u.

    Any ideas would be welcome.

    Thanks all,

    Pete 2

Could it just be the battery in the key fob needing replaced?

If the car thinks someone is still inside the deadlocks wont work. Its a saftey feature built in by vauxhall. IF the engine is turned off but the car dosent detect the drivers door opening it wont deadlock. I noticed this first when i pulled the keys out through the window and tryed locking it.

Your problem might be assosiated with the door pin not working (the one that turns the interior light on when the door opens). Its worth a look, but id say its definatly something to do with this system.

The only problems I have had with my door locks are that the solanoids went on both rear doors which prevented them from opening.

I also had this problem for the first time last Sunday on my 1.6 16v CD. I tried reopening and closing doors and even spare key but it wouldn't work. I eventually just locked it normally and left it for a few hours then went back to it and it worked fine and has done ever since. I just put it down to frost and freezing temperatures last Sunday.

Sounds like a dodgy door pin switch then.
