    2.2L exhaust?

I was under the car the other day, and noticed the centre muffler has what i'd guess as a 2" pipe going into it, out of it, comes a definately smaller pipe, not sure how big, but i'd guess 1.75".... i GUESS the front pipe is a 2", it's just that i didn't measure it, and it's noticable bigger than the rear piping... Does anyone know if the centre muffler is straight through, and the "internal" piping in the muffler and it's sizing? I was thinking of either having the centre muffler removed (but i don't want the exhaust louder than it is - have a sports muffler already), or, simply getting it largend and having 2" all the way through........
Can anyone see any benefit of this, or spread any light on it?
    Thanks
    Aaron

Exhaust diameter should be the same all the way through for the best flow . Have you a custom exhaust maker around you?, if so they can make a 2inch to 2 1/4 inch system for you and tailor it to your sound level needs as well

Yes, there's quite a few in sydney, but to be honest, none that have "worked" on an astra to get what i want, OR they are so dodgy in their work that it'll have a leak when they've done, or it'll bang on the floor.... So, there ARE people... but i wouldn't really trust them I guess i'd have to look around al ittle

Hmmm shame . You could try to look for a Sri turbo exhaust and see if that works

Lol, i could get a battery powered angle grinder and visit the local dealers after dark..... then i could have a turbo exhaust
    lol
Hmmm....... might ring around tomorrow, it won't COST that much, it's just that no one does work on these cars over here, because the people who have them, don't REALLY mod them that much......(oh, and there's not THAT many around here...)

lol, it's possible!! It's a matter of looking around...... i took my car last time to a place that was quote by LOTS of people as "one of the best" in sydney, and believe me, it'd be near the busiest, but mine was the second astra they'd had in, and when i told him what i wanted, he said, well, a dual tip will be quieter.... but thats all i can tell you about it.....
Lol, was confidence inspiring I want to find a "smaller" place that does good jobs... There's quite a few exhaust places (~150 in sydney )... so i guess it's a matter of looking and finding... there's not that many that will do custom work though... there's definately a few, but the ones around my area only do "replacement parts" nothing sorta made up for you
