    Help - Electric Mirrors

Hi im new to the forum ive got a 1.6i 16v Astra G Sport no specific mods as yet apart from ICE. Driving through a country lane on the way home from work and a women looking at herself in he rear view managed to hit my wing mirror and shatter the glass (as well as smashing off the plastic casing) I now have the replacement glass which my friend who works for Vxl aquired for me.

Now the help I need is how to get the old glass part off without breaking any of the elelctrics...

    Any help will be appreciated

    Cheers

i smashed mine of last week (they do seem to stick out a fair bit) any way the old one is in front of me now and as far as i can see the only way to get the glass off would be to get a flat screw driver behind it a prise it off. its only held on by a ball and socket type joint that will pop out easy enough and the only electrics behind there that you need worry about are the heated mirror wires, there 2 attached to the glass thats if you have heated mirrors.

I had a bit of a pull on it last night when I got back from work but it was dark and it just seemed like I was going to break something!

I think ill leave it till the wknd or eat more carrots by tomorrow night

There is a link of how to fit electric mirrors on the 'technical guides' page of the website, but I cant access the PDF link that it goes to.....

    Cheers

there is only one way to do this as i have found :x you need to get as many fingers around the top of the glass and slowly prise down it should pop once before it pops out of the main ball joint but dont worry this is just the movement ball joint at the top coming out. it feels dodgy as hell but i found clicking the glass back in is more delicate!
    Cheers Rich.
