Hi - my 2000 Sri is going in for its MOT tomorrow sporting a smashed Fog lamp and a cracked wing mirror glass. Are these two items enough for a a fail?
Yeah mate, l think so, as all lights on the car have to work and be in good order. Also exterior mirrors need to working and in good nick if fitted.
SOLD Slightly tickled 175.9bhp 2.2 SE2 on 19" vxr's..
Humm, as I suspected :x - Bloody suicidal rabbits.....
Cheers for the reply
Is it a front fog light?
If so, the tester can advise on it only, as long as it has no sharp pieces of glass which could snag on a passer by.
The only fog light you are required to have is on the rear (OS to centre)
The mirror on the other hand
what side is it and does it serverly impair the mirrors function?
you are required by law to have an OS mirror and or a rear view or passenger door mirror.
hairline cracks which do not disrupt the image in the mirror are often advised on only. multiple images in the mirror will fail if the the above criteria is not met.
This LINK deals with the lights
This LINK deals with mirrors
Hope it helps
great link, thanks!
The mirror is the passenger side, more than 1 crack but has been perfectly usable for me so far. At only £10 from Halfords for a new-one, I guess I will get it changed tonight just in case.
Best to have the mirror in A1 condition as a matter of safety rather than from the MOT point of view
But as you will have an interior mirror, it's not really needed for the test
In case anyone cares, you will pass your MOT with a smashed and not working front fog light and a smashed passenger side mirror
So you passed then !
