    Green cotton Air Filters

    Hello,

    I found this http://www.needforspeed.co.uk/green/index.htm
I've read in various places that cotton filters are the dog's bits when it comes to filtration... What I don't get is why do they come oiled?
Is is to prolong the filters life? or improve filtration?
What are the chances that some of that oil can make it further up into the engine?

    Cheers,
    Kakourdos

You are indeed correct that Cotton Gauze offer's a better level of filteration than foam or stainless mesh.

The oil is used to catch smaller particles. Mine get's very dirty in a short space of time, which proves that it is stopping the particles.

I recently checked the intake pipework and around the air flow meter, it was suprisingly clean and free from debris and this is with a fairly large cone.

So cotton green ones are STILL oiled? Holden will "void" engine warranty if it's oiled, aparantly causes problems?
