    Funny Wipers?

Hi, my wipers have gone really funny, i dont mean there telling jokes!!

When i flick them up to just do 1 pass they stop half way across the screen. ie at 45 degrees.

Now i lifted the wiper up, off the windscreen and they still do this, so its not 2 do with any sort of resistance. but i can switch them on, then if i time it right, switch them off to be in the correct off position.

i think it may be the relay. where is this?? any1 had this problem??

    Cheers

From what I remember the relay tells the wiper to go for a short time when on intermitant (spelling?) then the wiper motor themselves sort out the park postion.

So it sounds like it's the motor myself

If you tryed turning your wipers on when they were frozen to the screen you may have stripped the splines out of the hub. In which case you need new wiper arms. I know it sounds far fetched but belive me its quite common.

Relays can be gotten free from scrapies - just need big pockets. Worth trying that first, before spending big money on a motor/linkage

Inside the wiper motor there is a contact which keeps the power to the motor until it is back in the parked position. If the wipers operate continuously OK, but won't park correctly there could be crap on this contact, or the brush which runs on the contact is worn out. I'm not sure if they are repairable or if you have to buy a complete new motor, as a lot are sealed for life nowadays
