THE imobiliser is in the key fob thingy
that why if u have an alrm and its thacham 1, and u have remote start fitted it no longer is thacham approved cos the imobliser disarms when u put the key in or some thing techi like that as steve or lightning coupe, steve will expalne in better tchie detail

I have this arguement with my insurance company every year regarding my Calibra which was built in 1995.

I phoned Vauxhall Customer Services, and gave them my registration number. They looked on their computer system and told me the make and model of the immobiliser that was fitted and even confirmed that in writing. What they can't do is confirm whether it is still Thatcham approved, your insurance company can confirm this, or do what I did and phoned Thatcham up to check.

So all I do now is photocopy the letter from Vauxhall and that normalled shuts them up, until the following year when I go somewhere else!

    Hope this helps.

i work for an insurance company, you dont need to prove the fitting of a standard imob, only when you have additional security you have to provide a fitting certificate

    Chris

As long as it was thatham approved when it was fitted the insurance company has to accept it.

I had the same thing on my old MK3 where the cat 1 sigma system got knocked of the list because of a newer model out.
