    Dial Lights & Console Display

Anyone ever noticed the lights behind the speedo, and centre console display flickering?

Maybe I'm working too hard and need a break

Thought this may clear a few things up for you guyz... courtesy off MadMax off Car Audio Direct forum.

    Power CAPs are misunderstood things.

Some people believe that adding a CAP will stop your lights dimming and make your system louder. WRONG!!!

All CAPs do is store a small amount of energy, which is then released when required, the rest of the time it is charging.

    When NOT to use CAPs...

If when listening to your system with engine on, a bass note hits and your lights dim and stay dim, you should not get a CAP. You need either a bigger battery, another battery or a more powerful alternator.

    When to use CAPs...

If when listening to your system with engine on, a bass note hits and your lights dim and return to full brightness immediately, then a CAP can help your system.

There are lots of arguements for and against CAPs, if you are considering getting a CAP, you should already have an uprated battery. I would rather spend the money on putting an extra battery in the boot. If you do this, make sure it is a sealed battery (Optima yellow top is a good place to start)
