The PC is still FIICKED!! Need advice off all techie types

OK. my main PC (the one which my network uses as a server for the net and all that) has spewed it some time ago.

I cannot get any OS to install on it.

    Tried:

    2 Hard Drives
    3 CD Drives
    3 versions of Win XP
    2 Version of Win 98
    1 Version of Win 95
    1 Version of Win ME
    Swapped Memory chips
Swapped M/B battery (after it lost the BIOS defaults)
    Removed Sound/LAN/SCSI cards

Still NG. I am thinking it is now the motherboard (the oldest item in the box!)

OK. Now I need a new board.

    I DON'T NEED

    Onboard sound
    " Graphics
    " LAN
    " SCSI
    " TV out

    I DO NEED

    Onboard USB
    SCSI Compatibilty
    ATX format
SD Ram compatible (to save me a few quid on new memory)
AMD Duron 1100mhz support (I don't need to go any faster)

Suggestions please. Links to shops preferred. I thank all helpers in advance

I've had a look at both of those sites, still none the wiser as to what I need though. Everything seems to be onboard now as well :?

Might have to go around to a few computer shops and ask

    Steve,

Sorry to hear of your troubles mate, sounds like you've tried most things, a new Mobo will probably fix the prob..

Go for any board with the new Nvidia Nforce2 Chipset or even the VIA KT600 Chipset, both excellent - NForce bit better for gaming.

    I normally use www.cclcomputers.co.uk or www.aria.co.uk

Both are great for prices, and I just discovered www.pcnextday.co.uk tonight.

    Good Luck!

the thing i do when im having trouble with something like that, is take it to a computer fair, they have technicians there who could help you on the spot or take it a away for a couple of days!

    visit www.technofair.com

now i know these fairs on this particular site only really operate in the South East, but im sure you could find something similar if your not from that part of the UK

Cheers guys. I have been nosing about the net and the boards I am looking at are 'basic' and more expensive than the on board types, which, if it is like this Gigabyte one, makes them more future proof (this one started with a 600mhz processor and now runs at 1.1 ghz, well it would if it wasn't busted)

My Graphics card is a Nvidia anyway, so that it is all good and I am more concerned with the TV out capability than the graphics power, as we watch a lot of the latest films which have been ripped off the net, but don't play games on it much.

I am gonna ring around tomorrow. I have found one Epox board on Ebuyer, but not sure if I can get something similar for less. Ebuyer are fine, as long as the item you order is in stock. If not, don't bother, it is invariably discontinued.

giz a shout if you're still not sorted, i work in the computer side of things and can probably source you a spare board for dirt cheap (ie - cost of postage ) or one at trade prices
    regards
