    Sounds cheap actually!

I worked out the cost of turbocharging my last car and all in, with me doing all the welding work and fabrication to fit the extra bits it was looking at a fair few quid

Break it down for you, if you're using the original powerplant

Turbo charger (Garrett T2 new) £850
Head gasket spacer, stainless steel £275 (one off price)
Dump valve and pipework to fit £200
Custom manifold to take the turbo and downpipe to join OEM system £450
One off pipe work and manifold changes to work with turbo £300
ECU remap and sensor upgrade for turbo running £650

So that is a total of £2725. For a project I was going to assemble in the driveway and hope it worked. There was probably about £1000 worth of fabrication required to the Megane Coupe in order to fit in the turbo, but I would have done this myself. This was for only 6PSI boost. Anymore and I would have needed an intercooler at about £500 fabricated to fit the car.

That is why I now have an Astra Turbo Not worth the hassle and the (quoted) £1200 per year insurance for a modded motor
