You will find locating lugs on either side and top and bottom i belive.

The way I do it is get the top and bottom of the cage in the middle and close them together as this releases most the clips.

The cage can be bent back into shape no problem after

The cage is secured in by the centre console. The contact point is the left and right sides of the cage. Just use a flathead screwdriver to pry in the sides at the middle (the cage is flexible) and you should be able to pull the cage out with no problems.

let me know how you go.

you can either remove the centre console - which is a pain in the arse or go at it like I did with a big pair of side cutters and hack the damn useless thing out.....

At the end of the day its not like your going to be putting the OE head back in is it.... if you do or sell the car im sure you can get a new cage from vaux parts

nooo doont remove the center console
is a big testie ache getting it back due to the heater dials (as anyone who ha sprayed there dash or changed the bulbs will know)
took me 20 mins to put some of steves blue led bulbs in for the heaters and dash display and 4 hrs to get the b@###d wire back on the last heater thingy ops: anywhey
i think there may be a screw in the center, right @ the back of the cage holding it in ?think it secures it to the strut inside the console but carnt quite remember just pull @ it it will come eventualy it is v tight
