Ha ha ha! Well it has been the law for about oh ermm 20 odd years.

I know a guy who is a traffic copper and the stories he can tell about high speed accidents where people didn't wear seatbelts are awful. A £30 fine isn't too bad really?

Got pulled over a few weeks back for the same thing, never used to wear my seat belt.
But now not working i cannot afford anymore fines so i now wear one and it isn't so bad once you get used to it

I've never considered not wearing one :?. I don't see the point of not wearing one as they are not too bad comfort wise, and they stop your head going squish against the wind screen if anything happened

I don't think twice about it - it'll soon become an automatic process whenever you climb in. My SO's a Dr in A+E - if you heard some of the stories she tells you'd soon wear your belt. Not a big chore, is it?

I used to drive an ancient Pug diesel - the time spent waiting for the glowplugs to warm up was enough time to put the belt on!

my other alf is a copper, and the issuing of these is one of her biggest passtimes....

They DO save lives, the excuses people give, inc
    'me car has airbags'........rubbish
'seatbelts cause as much injury quite often'..............rubbish
'restricts my visibility'............rubbish, its not over you eyes
your allowed to take it off when reversing

These fines come with no points, and dont have to be declared to insurance companys.......they wok as a good reminder that the law on the roads is for everyone

They quite often do give people a good kick up the backside, who might have been driving a few years and got lazy....

Dont forget, the pigs quite often take this seriously, as they are the ones that have to clean the mess up and go to post-mortems

I've had a head-head collision when on holiday in Scotland. Was driving a Merc 190E at the time, and hit a foreign car on the wrong side of the road smack bang head on, grill to grill. Police reconed combined impact speed was 120mph.

    Seatbelt saved my life.
