    Sticking Problems ...

I'm having problems attaching my chrome boot handle cover to the black plastic handle. The black plastic handle is of the same material as everyones black side bump strips, and the chrome boot handle cover is solid metal.

The adhesive sticky stuff that came on the inside of the chrome cover lasted a day and come off. I've even tried the double back 1mm sticky pads for sticking reg plates on ... and that's lasted two days. These two methods would be ideal if my boot handle was colour-coded so the adhesive pads on the inside of the chrome cover would stick, but because my handle is black plastic, it's not sticking properly.

Is there anything that I could use to permanently stick this cover to the black boot handle?

I intend the cover to be a permanent fixture and don't intend to take it off in the future, so no problems in regard to thinking of taking it off ... that's not going to happen.

Is Silkaflex any good for doing this? Will this stuff stick metal to plastic?

    Cheers.

Buy some "good" silicone, use it proper, give the existing handle a little sand to remove any crap on it now, use metho to "clean" it to get wax, etc, off, then use silicon..... use plenty, use gaffa tape to hold it there while it dries... will take a while, if the silicone dries proper it will never come off again

take it to a local bodyshop or vaux dealer and ask them for a favour, and get them to clean it and use silaflex.

Might cost you £5 as a drink, but it wont budge
