    Throttle body

Someone recommended that cleaning out the throttle body would help the flat spot problems and juddering in 1st and 2nd when slow, on my Mk4 1.4 16V.

I aint that much of a tech guy so if someone could do us a how-to guide with maybe a few pics i'll be soo gratefull. Might also help others with the same problem.

Yeh apparently its the throttle body that causes the stalling when idling (at lights etc.) so a 'how to' would be very helpful cos I'm too skint to pay a garage.

no it's actually the ICV (idle control valve) that causes the stalling.

Clean them both out it did.

Very simple - disconnect the black air pipe from the top of the Throttle Body by undoing the collar and pulling it off.

With the engine running spray lots of carb cleaner on and inside/beyond the butterfly. When you open it the engine will rev faster.

The engine may splutter / stall a few times, but persevere....

With the engine off you can get an old toothbrush inside.
