Pah! don't be silly! Spent 10 hours non stop working on my car. Well if you call photography working
Met up with a fellow local MIG member, Ben, who had agreed to do the work on my car. He is a pro mechanic so i thought i'd leave it to him to get stuck in.
List of jobs to do was:
Fit new koni adjustable shocks all round
Fit new lowering springs (-35mm) all round
Swap the 236mm solid disks and calipers for 256mm vented items and matching calipers from a 2.0l GSi
Swap the rear drum hubs for disk hubs from a cavalier.
old 236mm solid vs 256mm vented disks
Everything else off
Using the spring compressor to get the old spring off
Get that crappy old shock outta there!
The new shock, spring and bump-stop goes on
All put back together again
The whole strut back on the car, with the new disks and calipers on
The front lowered (now a bit lower coz it's settled a bit more)
Now with the fronts done it's time to do the rears, the old drum
Out with the old...
...And in with the new (well, second hand rusty stuff - but still better though, lol)
And then the rear shocks and springs go on. Just in the nick of time, it's pretty dark now (and bloody freezing!)
I know it's all a bit dirty and rusty but the disks have cleaned themselves up nicely now. We were gonna paint the calipers and stuff but just didn't get time. It'd only get dirty over winter anyway, i'll do it next year when it gets a bit warmer
I took a couple of pics of the whole car once we'd finished but they haven't come out properly coz it was too dark, so here's a couple of Ben's phase2 GSi instead!:
