    engine swap

The warmer part of next year, i'm want to fit a 2.0 16v into the Astra and chuck the 1.6.
Was thinking of putting a redtop in it but because of its age, i think i'm gonna go with a Ecotec because of the smoother running.

What sort of price would i be looking at? and i would need the gearbox aswell wouldn't i.

    Kirsty

My bf still wants to fit his V6 in it instead :?

Assuming you have an Astra G (mk4) then probably a lot more than it would cost you PX for a used 2.0 SRi if you really want a 2.0. Further more the money you have left over would pay for Regal/Courtenay to work their magic and make it go faster.

The 2.0 eco is actually cheaper than the 1.8 you should be able to pick up everything needed for abot £500-£800 depending on quality of engine, I looked at one for £350 all in but the engine needed work.

Is your's 8v or 16v? If 16v it would be better to tune that.

Your g/box should be ok, intill you start running 180+bhp

Eco defo looks better in the late mk3's than the red top, but the r/top is very cheap now, and millions of tuning parts available on mig as i'm sure you've seen.

Put in Ian's 'V' in (Whats he having then  )

Thats not nice calling me that

Took it out the other night for a run, pulled out at a junction and 1 big cloud of white smoke filled up the road, i definitly think the headgasket has gone now.

Won't be doing it outside in this cold, i'll have to ask a favour and do it at the Vx garage one weekend.

Im interested in hearing how it turns out...my 1.6 has 66k miles on it, and I wouldnt mind a younger, more powerful engine.
